classes in the studio

 It is my goal that everyone is comfortable in my classes and that includes parents! If parents choose to stay with their child during class, I ask that you participate alongside your child. Some parents may choose to wait in the lobby in case of an emergency and of course, parents are free to explore the sights in Historic Downtown Rosenberg while your kiddo is in class. With nearly 30 years of experience working with children, I am accustomed and equipped to handle even the toughest separation anxiety.  

 As a parent myself, I know that schedules get hectic, folks get sick and sometimes, our kids just need a nap. So don’t worry! If you need to miss class, send me a quick message to let me know to start without you and a class credit will be added to your account. You can keep up to 3 credits on your account at any given time and you can redeem those credits for a spot in any available class or even use them for special events like Parents’ Night Out or Kid Play Parties. 

 Every class is different but in general, wear comfortable clothes that can get messy and closed-toed shoes. You may choose to bring a water bottle labeled with your child’s name. Our bathrooms are located outside of the studio space, so please take your child to the restroom before entering class. 

 I take a child-led approach to learning. I come to class with a lesson prepared and then 100 extra plans in my back pocket, just in case. Many times classes take on a whole new direction when children are given the chance to take part in the navigation. So I go with the flow, and keep the flow going. I know that children learn best through play and imagination and in order to spark a love and passion for a subject a child must experience it first on their terms - through creative expression of that subject, through meaningful dialogue with others on the subject, and through trial and error within that subject. In simpler terms - before a child can play music, they must first play WITH music. This holds true for all  subjects - dance, yoga, even math and reading. I practice peaceful parenting in my house and in my studio. As an expert in young children, I do not set unnecessary nor developmentally inappropriate expectations. My classes are lively, engaging, and fun for kids, and parents, and I have a great time too! 

 The health and safety of all students is a high priority for me. If your child is ill, please keep them home. With our flexible make-up policy in place, you can be assured that your tuition dollars are never wasted. Currently, masks are optional for everyone in class and we will follow CDC recommended guidelines should the need arise. We keep sanitizer and a hand washing station available at all times. As an educator, I have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and maintain all recommended booster schedules. However, proof of vaccination is not a requirement for enrollment. I am trained in First Aid and CPR for infants, children and adults.
